Allegations of ₦400m Bribe in Refurbishment Contract

On Tuesday, Gbenga Collins, the Managing Director of Divine Dopacy Limited, testified before the House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the Presidential Economic Advisory Council/Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PEAC/). He alleged that Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew requested ₦400 million to facilitate a refurbishment contract for an official residence.

Collins detailed that the ₦400 million was paid in five installments: ₦100 million on May 16, 2025; ₦100 million on May 22, 2025; ₦100 million on May 28, 2025; ₦80 million on June 20, 2025, and ₦20 million on July 29, 2025. He stated that the payments were made to accounts of World Entrepreneurship University Limited and Sunshine Confectionery and Catering Services.

Collins claimed the funds were raised from his colleagues in agribusiness and appealed for assistance in recovering the money, as he was under pressure to refund them. He denied that the payments were intended as a bribe, asserting that his company did not participate in a bidding process for the contract.

Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, the committee chair, confirmed that Prince Adeyemi is currently in police custody based on a court order.
