Tinubu Orders ICPC Probe into Fictitious PFIPC

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the activities of the purported Presidential Federal Identity Protection Council (PFIPC), which the Presidency declared fictitious and lacking legal backing. In a statement issued on July 7 by Bayo Onanuga, the President's Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, it was noted that Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew falsely claimed to be the Director-General of this non-existent council.

The investigation, mandated to be completed within 30 days, will examine allegations of forged appointment letters and the operation of multiple bank accounts linked to purported government agencies. Tinubu emphasized the need to protect the integrity of public institutions and called for the identification of all collaborators involved in the scheme.

He instructed all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to assist the ICPC in this investigation, which aims to uncover the origins and uses of the alleged forged documents and recommend measures to prevent future abuses.
