Tinubu Orders ICPC to Investigate Alleged Fake Council

President Bola Tinubu has ordered the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a thorough investigation into the alleged fraudulent activities surrounding a purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC). This directive, issued via a statement from his special adviser on strategic communication, Bayo Onanuga, mandates the ICPC to complete its investigation and report back within 30 days.

The investigation was deemed necessary after it was discovered that the PFIPC lacks any legal foundation or official recognition within the federal government. Allegations include the use of forged government documents to secure diplomatic recognition and facilitate visa applications, as well as the opening of multiple bank accounts under the guise of government agencies.

The investigation will also examine the roles of individuals involved, including Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, who faces criminal charges related to these activities. Additionally, Tinubu has instructed the ICPC to identify loopholes in government systems that may be exploited and to recommend reforms to prevent future occurrences.
