ADC Demands Judicial Panel Over PFIPC Scandal Investigation

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has publicly rejected the investigation by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) into the PFIPC scandal, demanding instead the establishment of an independent judicial panel to conduct a credible probe. In a statement issued on Wednesday, ADC spokesperson Bolaji Abdullahi welcomed President Bola Tinubu's decision to order an investigation but insisted that an independent judicial panel would provide answers beyond reasonable doubt regarding the historical scandal.

The controversy intensified following allegations against Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director General of the council, who was accused of corruption by Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila. The ADC criticized the investigation's credibility, arguing that it would not be impartial under the current administration, which they claim is attempting to shield individuals involved.

They demand a full, unredacted report upon completion of the investigation and have condemned the arrest of Adeyemi's father as intimidation.
