Atiku Abubakar Rejects ICPC Report on PFIPC Scandal

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has publicly rejected the interim report from the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) regarding the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) scandal. He stated that the report raises more questions than it answers, particularly regarding allegations of "negligence and connivance" within government processes.

Atiku highlighted that an individual allegedly forged a presidential appointment letter, created fictitious federal agencies, and opened bank accounts using forged documents. He criticized the ICPC's portrayal of the scandal as the work of a "lone impostor," arguing that such actions require the involvement of multiple public officers.

Atiku called for the identification of those who enabled the fraud and insisted on an independent inquiry, supporting calls for a live, televised National Assembly hearing. He emphasized that transparency is essential to dispel suspicions surrounding the scandal and warned against any attempts by the presidency to shield those involved.
