House Uncovers 29 Forged Documents in PFIPC Scandal

The House of Representatives ad hoc committee investigating the alleged fake Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) disclosed on Monday that it had uncovered at least 29 allegedly forged official documents associated with the agency and its Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi Mathew. Chairman Yusuf Gagdim made the announcement during the appearance of Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamseldeen Ogunjimi.

The forged documents were purportedly issued by various government institutions, including the State House and the Office of the Head of the Civil Service. Among the documents was one allegedly bearing the forged signature of Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila.

The committee summoned 13 civil servants linked to the operations of the purported agency to explain their roles. It also directed Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, to produce Mathew, who has been in police custody since his arrest on July 15.

The police confirmed ongoing investigations and an eight-count charge filed against Mathew in the Federal High Court.
