Adeyemi's Lawyers Demand Fair Hearing in PFIPC Scandal

The legal defence team of Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-acclaimed Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), contends that he is being made a scapegoat to obscure significant institutional failures within the government. They insist that Adeyemi must appear before the House of Representatives ad hoc committee, led by Yusuf Gagdi, to ensure fair hearing.

The defence, represented by Festus Akhigbe, argues that Adeyemi could not have independently created the PFIPC, as various ministries and agencies of the Federal Government were involved in its recognition and operations. They assert that denying Adeyemi the opportunity to testify would violate his constitutional right to a fair hearing.

The legal team claims that the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation acknowledged documents related to the council and facilitated its operations, while other agencies provided necessary approvals and resources. They emphasize that any report produced without Adeyemi's testimony would be fundamentally flawed.
