Adeyemi Demands Public Hearing on PFIPC Allegations

Adeniyi Adeyemi, the estranged Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC), has opposed the House of Representatives committee's plan to question him in a closed-door meeting. Adeyemi argues that he deserves to respond publicly to allegations made against him, including impersonation, forgery, financial impropriety, and unlawful use of government facilities.

The committee, led by Yusuf Gagdi, is investigating the PFIPC's creation and operations and how it was allocated funds in the federal government’s 2026 budget proposal. Adeyemi's lawyer, Ademola Oyedokun, stated that fairness requires Adeyemi to answer the allegations in the same public forum where they were made.

He urged the committee to use its constitutional powers under Section 89 to compel Adeyemi's attendance at a public sitting. While acknowledging that criminal allegations will be addressed in court, Adeyemi seeks to clarify the circumstances surrounding the PFIPC's establishment in an open inquiry.
