HoS Admits Recruitment Approval Lacked Due Diligence

Didi Walson-Jack, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, acknowledged on Wednesday that her office approved recruitment requests associated with the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) without conducting adequate due diligence. While testifying before a committee investigating the PFIPC and the Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC), she stated that her office acted based on documents submitted by representatives of the organizations without verifying their authenticity.

Walson-Jack conceded that the approvals for the Authorised Establishment and Recruitment Waiver should not have been granted without thorough verification. She noted that the historical existence of the PEAC as an ad hoc body may have contributed to the confusion regarding the documents presented.

The committee is currently probing the PFIPC, which is accused of fraudulent activities, as well as the legitimacy of the recruitment approvals it received from government institutions.
