Key Political Figures Meet in Abuja for 2023 Strategy

A significant closed-door meeting took place in Abuja, attended by prominent political figures including former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, Kano State counterpart Rabiu Kwankwaso, and Seriake Dickson, a national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress. The meeting, which began around 5:18 PM, also featured Nasiru Gawuna, the former governorship candidate of Kano State, Aishatu Binani, a former Adamawa State governorship candidate, and ex-lawmakers Kabir Marafa and Victor Umeh.

The gathering is believed to be part of ongoing political realignments among opposition figures in anticipation of the 2027 general elections. Obi and Kwankwaso arrived to a supportive crowd, with Kwankwaso dressed in his signature white babaringa and red and white Kwankwasiyya cap, while Obi wore a black kaftan.

The meeting follows the recent unveiling of a new political platform by Buba Galadima, further fueling speculation about the emergence of an opposition coalition.
