ICPC to Arraign El-Rufai on Corruption Charges in Kaduna

On Tuesday, heavy security measures were implemented around the Federal High Court in Kaduna as the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) prepared to arraign former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai on allegations of corruption. The security presence included personnel from multiple agencies, such as the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigeria Police Force, with vehicular movement restricted in the area.

The ICPC announced the charges against El-Rufai, which include allegations of possession of public property and money laundering, under suit number FHC/KD/73/2026. The commission also disclosed that additional charges were filed against him at the Amadu Sule Kaduna State High Court, including abuse of office and intent to commit fraud.

The arraignment is scheduled for March 18, 2026, and comes amid mounting pressure from stakeholders, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who have criticized his continued detention without formal charges as unconstitutional.
