Pipeline Vandals Use CCTV to Evade Arrest in Nigeria

Captain Warrendi Enisuoh, Executive Director of Tantita Security Services Nigeria, disclosed on Wednesday during a parliamentary roundtable on pipeline security in Abuja that pipeline vandals in the Niger Delta are deploying advanced tactics, including the installation of CCTV cameras, to evade arrest. These criminals have established command and control centers and acquired sophisticated weaponry, including missile launchers, to protect their operations.

Despite the introduction of a surveillance framework in 2022 aimed at stabilizing the oil sector, the government has not taken significant action since August 2022 to enhance pipeline surveillance. The current output of crude oil stands at 1.84 million barrels per day, with Tantita's interventions reportedly yielding measurable gains in reducing pipeline sabotage.
