Pirlo Set to Become New Coach of Italian National Team

Andrea Pirlo is on the verge of being appointed as the new head coach of the Italian national football team after reaching an agreement with the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) on a four-year contract. This development follows Pep Guardiola's rejection of the FIGC's approach to take over the team.

Pirlo, currently managing United FC in Dubai, is expected to succeed Gennaro Gattuso, who resigned in April after Italy's failure to qualify for three consecutive FIFA World Cups. Pirlo, a celebrated midfielder who won the 2006 FIFA World Cup with Italy, previously managed Juventus for the 2020–21 season, securing the Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup.

The FIGC had also considered Carlo Ancelotti for the role before settling on Pirlo. His appointment comes at a crucial time for Italian football, which has faced significant challenges, including calls for reforms in youth development and talent identification.

Pirlo's immediate task will be to restore confidence in the national team and guide Italy back to the FIFA World Cup.
