Plan International Launches Youth-Centric Report in Nigeria

Plan International Nigeria unveiled the "Put Us At The Center" report, which examines the impact of humanitarian fund cuts on children, adolescents, and youth in Nigeria, particularly in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states. The report, which involved consultations with 132 respondents aged 8 to 24, highlights the necessity of a people-centered approach that prioritizes the voices and lived experiences of young individuals.

It reveals critical gaps in decision-making processes, noting that young people are often excluded from consultations that affect their lives, leading to increased hunger, school dropout rates, and weakened protection systems. Tund Aremu emphasized the importance of engaging youth as active contributors in shaping policies that impact them.

Kehind Chariti Awujoola, Senior Special Assistant to the Minister of Youth and Gender Matters, outlined the ministry's strategic framework aimed at empowering and protecting Nigerian youth. The launch of the report marks a significant step towards inclusive policymaking in Nigeria.
