Plateau Athletes Shine at Senator Diri Marathon in Bayelsa

Plateau athletes showcased their dominance at the Senator Diri marathon in Bayelsa, with Jame Gang finishing second last year leading the pack of 207 participants in this year's race. In the elite male category, Franci Jame from Plateau clinched the victory with a time of 30:58:75, closely followed by Ishmael Sadjo from Cross River.

In the elite female category, Plateau athlete Akusho Lydia Thoma emerged victorious with a time of 38:30:37, ahead of her compatriot Vivian Obadiah. The event also featured impressive performances from teen male and female categories, with Andrew Richard Bishop from Dimieri Grammar School Yenagoa and Alex Sunshine Yebiboh among the standout performers.

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, presented prizes to the winners and announced an increase in prize money for future editions of the marathon.
