Plateau Athletes Shine at Bayelsa Marathon, Governor Announces Increased Prize Money

Plateau athletes excelled at the Bayelsa marathon, with James Gang and Akusho Lydia Thoma emerging as champions in the male and female categories, respectively. The event, held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, featured over 200 participants.

Governor Douye Diri presented prizes, including a cash prize of N2 million for the elite category winners in 2027. The marathon aimed to promote unity, discover talent, and empower youth in sports.

Dr. Daniel Igali, the Bayelsa State Commissioner for Sports, commended the organization and emphasized talent development.

The marathon also featured teen categories, with winners from local schools. The event highlighted the commitment to sports development and youth empowerment in Bayelsa State.
