Cleric Calls for Urgent Police Recruitment Amid Killings

In an exclusive interview, Apostle Emmanuel Atsagba Dekor, lead pastor of the Supernatural People Embassy, expressed grave concerns over the continuous killings of Christians in northern Nigeria, specifically in Plateau and Benue states. He attributed these incidents to inadequate police presence in rural communities, urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prioritize the recruitment and deployment of police personnel in troubled areas.

Dekor highlighted that while there are approximately 100,000 policemen assigned to protect VIPs, the general populace remains vulnerable. He proposed a vision of recruiting 150,000 police officers annually for four years to reach a target of one million personnel.

Furthermore, he advised Christian communities to take proactive measures for their safety, including forming vigilant groups. Dekor's statements were made during a ministerial conference scheduled for April 10, 2026, in Lafia, Nasarawa State, where he aims to inspire and strategize with church leaders on addressing insecurity in Nigeria.
