Plateau State Eases Curfew in Jos North Amid Calm

The Plateau State Government announced a further relaxation of the curfew in Jos North, effective Wednesday, April 8, 2026. Residents will now be allowed to move freely from 6 AM to 6 PM daily, while the dusk-to-dawn curfew from 6 PM to 6 AM remains in effect.

This decision was communicated by the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon.

Joyc Lohya Ramnap, who stated that the adjustment was made after consultations with the state government and security agencies monitoring the situation on the ground. Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang directed security agencies to ensure strict enforcement of the adjusted curfew to safeguard lives and property, consolidating ongoing efforts to restore normalcy in the affected communities.

Residents are urged to comply fully with the curfew hours and remain indoors during the restricted period while cooperating with security personnel. The curfew was initially imposed following an attack in Angwan Rukuba that heightened tensions in parts of Jos North.
