Plateau State Imposes Curfew After Deadly Jos Attack

The Plateau State Government has announced a 48-hour curfew in Jos North Local Government Area starting at midnight on March 29, 2026, following a deadly attack in Gari Ya Way community, Angwan Rukuba. The attack occurred on Sunday at approximately 7:50 PM, when heavily armed assailants opened fire on residents, causing panic and forcing people to flee in different directions.

Although the exact number of casualties has not been confirmed, sources indicate that several individuals were killed and others sustained gunshot wounds. The incident has been described as a tragic security breach leading to loss of life and injuries among residents.

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang condemned the attack as barbaric and unprovoked, assuring the community that security agencies are taking necessary measures to restore peace and apprehend those responsible. The government has urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies during the curfew.
