Dariye Calls for Holistic Solutions to Plateau Insecurity

Joshua Dariye, the former governor of Plateau State and chairman of the committee addressing the state's security crisis, stated that the complex security challenges in Plateau require a holistic solution beyond military action. On Monday, he presented the committee's report to Governor Caleb Mutfwang at the old government house in Rayfield.

The committee was formed following high-level engagements with Plateau stakeholders and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who expressed concern over the recurring crises. The report, which consists of two volumes, details findings and practical recommendations, concluding that the state's security issues are historically multidimensional and cannot be attributed to a single cause.

The committee identified poor implementation of peace initiatives, weak institutions, and lack of accountability as hindrances to progress. Recommendations include a comprehensive recovery plan to protect vulnerable communities, support internally displaced persons, rebuild affected settlements, and empower women.

Governor Mutfwang described the strategies as a roadmap to address the state's socio-political challenges, reaffirming the administration's commitment to dialogue and institutional reform.
