Plateau Killings: Arraignment of Four Suspects Delayed

The arraignment of four suspects connected to the March 28, 2026, killings in Angwa Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, Plateau State, was postponed due to the absence of defense counsel. The suspects, Isa Umar, Ibrahim Auwalu, Abubakar Musa, and Abubakar Ibrahim, were scheduled to appear in the Plateau State High Court but sought an adjournment to enable them to contact their counsel.

The attack, which occurred in the Bokko Bassa Local Government Area, resulted in the deaths of no fewer than 30 individuals, including children. The Plateau State government filed charges against the suspects on March 28, 2026, following their arrest by the Department of State Services (DSS) on April 3 and April 10, 2026.

The charges include criminal conspiracy and committing terrorism-related offenses, as outlined by the Plateau State Penal Code Law of 2017. Governor Caleb Mutfwang condemned the attack, labeling it an attempt to destabilize the state and urged the international community to take note.

President Bola Tinubu visited the state earlier in the month to meet with victims and assured them of justice.
