Plateau State Files Terrorism Charges Over Jos Killings

The Plateau State Government has filed terrorism charges against five suspects in connection with the killings that occurred in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area, on March 28, 2026, resulting in the deaths of at least 30 individuals, including children. The suspects, identified as Isa Umar, Ibrahim Auwalu, Abubakar Musa, and Ibrahim Auwalu, face charges including criminal conspiracy to commit terrorism, as outlined by the State Attorney General, Philemon Daffi.

Additional charges against Adamu Isa Alhassan include culpable homicide and illegal possession of firearms. The attacks, which involved armed individuals invading the community, have prompted Governor Caleb Mutfwang to condemn the violence and emphasize the need for stability in the state.

He has called for international attention to the situation, asserting that the violence is not merely a farmer-herder conflict but an act of genocide. President Bola Tinubu visited the state earlier in the month, assuring victims of justice and urging residents to remain vigilant.
