Plateau Court Remands Four Suspects in DSS Custody

On Thursday, a Plateau State High Court remanded four suspects in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) due to their alleged involvement in the killings that occurred on March 28, 2026, in Angwa Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area. The suspects, identified as Isa Umar, Ibrahim Auwalu, Abubakar Auwalu (also known as Auwalu Dogo), and Musa Abubakar Ibrahim (known as Yaroro), face charges of criminal conspiracy and terrorism filed by the state Attorney General, Philemon Daffi, under the Penal Code Law of Plateau State 2017.

During the proceedings, all four defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court heard that the attacks resulted in the deaths of at least 30 individuals, including children.

The matter has been adjourned until May 8, 2026, following a request from the defense counsel for additional time to consult with the defendants. Justice Gidelia Fom Yom emphasized the need for the suspects to remain in DSS custody due to the case's severity while ensuring the defense team has access to their clients.
