Plateau Governor Mutfwang Commissions 70 Transformers

On Thursday, Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State commissioned 70 electricity transformers distributed across various communities in the state and announced the completion of a 132KVA transmission line project serving the southern and central senatorial zones. During the flag-off ceremony, Mutfwang described these interventions as a decisive step towards strengthening power supply and expanding electricity access, particularly for vulnerable and underserved communities.

A press statement from his spokesman, Gyang Bere, indicated that while 55 transformers were initially approved, an additional 15 units were later sanctioned in response to growing demand, bringing the total to 70. Mutfwang emphasized that access to electricity is not a privilege but a right, asserting that stable power is vital for economic growth, small business development, job creation, and improving living standards.

He also noted that Nigeria's electricity transmission and distribution remain significant bottlenecks, and the 132KVA project is critical for efficient power delivery. The contractor is fully mobilized, and work is expected to commence soon, with optimism that Plateau will become a net energy seller within two years.
