Plateau State Unveils N817.5bn Budget for 2026, Prioritizing Infrastructure and Human Capital

The Plateau State Government has revealed a N817.5 billion budget for 2026, emphasizing infrastructure development and human capital improvement. The budget, presented by the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Hon.

Adam B. Lekshak, is part of the state's efforts to boost security and economic progress.

The budget is tagged "Budget Consolidation for Sustained Growth 2" and aligns with the state's 2026-2028 Medium-Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper. In the previous fiscal year, the budget rose from N499.45 billion to N609.17 billion due to supplementary appropriations and increased FAAC receipts.

However, there were shortfalls in revenue generation, with IGR falling below target. The state plans to spend N94.87 billion on capital projects in 2026, with the economic sector receiving the largest allocation of N376.91 billion.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang's leadership in improving road maintenance and ensuring timely salary payments and retirement benefits was commended.
