Plateau Residents Report Secret Killings Amid Peace Efforts

Residents of Angwa Rukuba in Plateau State have raised concerns over alleged secret killings following a series of violent attacks that left 28 people dead. In response, the Gideon Funmi Paramallam Peace Foundation, led by Dr.

Gideon Paramallam, launched a community-led peace-building initiative in Jos North. This initiative aims to rebuild trust and strengthen early warning mechanisms for conflict resolution among Christian and Muslim communities.

The urgency of the initiative was highlighted by a spike in nighttime attacks that have instilled fear in families, hindering their ability to return to normal activities. The foundation's model includes trauma counseling and community dialogue, with plans to train local committees to identify triggers of violence.

Residents like Johnson Dung and Dauda John Bokko have expressed their fears over the lack of security presence and the need for constant security personnel. The Plateau State government, represented by Chaplain Benjamin Nadabo, acknowledged the security challenges and assured ongoing efforts to improve safety in the region.
