Plateau Residents Flee Homes Amid Fear of Terrorist Attacks

Hundreds of residents in the Sabon Gari community in Plateau State's Wase Local Government Area have fled their homes out of renewed fears of terrorist attacks following recent incidents. Gunmen on motorcycles killed a soldier and five residents, with three soldiers reported missing.

The terrorists targeted security posts, moved into residential areas, burned houses, looted shops, and stole valuables. The Wase LGA has experienced a wave of terror, including the abduction of 28 travelers in December 2025.

The new Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, Bassei Ewah, has vowed to make the state safer by collaborating closely with security agencies to restore law and order.
