Pastor Among Nine Killed in Plateau State Attacks

Between the night of September 19 and the morning of September 20, 2026, at least nine individuals were killed in a series of attacks in Barkin Ladi, Riyom, and surrounding communities in Plateau state. The victims included five passengers traveling to Gana-Ropp, a pastor, and two other residents.

The attacks prompted women and children to flee vulnerable areas, with reports of livestock being killed or stolen. Community leaders, including Ukasha Garaba, the Pyem Youth Leader in Gana-Ropp, and Bulus Dabit, the National President of the Mwaghavul Development Association, condemned the violence and urged security agencies to take action against the perpetrators.

Rwang Tengwong, spokesman for the Berom Youth Moulders, called for a sustained security presence in vulnerable communities. The violence disrupted daily activities and heightened tensions, with residents reporting ongoing gunfire in the area.
