Plateau Youths Protest Insecurity at Government House

On Wednesday, Plateau State youths, under the umbrella of the Northern Zone Ethnic Nation Plateau Youth Coalition, staged a protest at the Government House against persistent insecurity and rising killings in the region. The protest, which began at 11 am, was triggered by recent attacks in Kanam and Riyom local government areas, where 25 individuals, including a soldier and a vigilante officer, were reportedly killed.

Ezekiel Peter Bini, the coalition president, expressed outrage over the continued attacks and lamented the deteriorating security situation, stating that security operations are no longer able to guarantee the safety of the people. Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, president of the Berom Youth Movement, highlighted the violence's impact on rural communities and called for stronger collaboration between the state government and international partners to tackle the crisis.

Esther Banga, president of the Berom Women Development Association, emphasized the violence's effects on vulnerable groups, particularly women and children, urging for sustained peace efforts to restore normalcy and revive tourism in the state.
