Ashleigh Plumptre Undergoes Successful Surgery for Injury

Ashleigh Plumptre, a 31-year-old Nigerian defender, has successfully undergone surgery for a foot injury, as announced by her club, Al Ittihad. Following the procedure, she has already commenced rehabilitation with the club's medical team.

It is anticipated that Plumptre will be sidelined for a few months as she recovers. She aims to be fully fit in time for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations.

Plumptre, a former Leicester City player, was part of the Super Falcons team that won the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in the last tournament held in Morocco. Unfortunately, her injury will prevent her from participating in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France, and the WAFCON 2026 final, which has been postponed to July by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
