ADC Supporters Clash with Police During Kaduna March

On Wednesday, during a solidarity walk for the ADC's governorship candidate Isa Ashiru in Kaduna, a clash occurred between ADC supporters and security operatives at Murtala Square. The ADC organized the march to kick off its campaign activities for the 2027 governorship election.

The party accused the police and the state government of employing security operatives and alleged political thugs to disrupt the peaceful gathering, claiming that tear gas was used against its supporters, resulting in injuries and forcing participants to disperse. In response, the Kaduna State Police Command stated that tear gas was deployed to disperse the crowd after ADC supporters allegedly blocked a major road, causing severe traffic congestion and a breakdown of public order.

The police emphasized that their actions were not intended to impede the political gathering or restrict citizens' rights to peaceful assembly. Isa Ashiru described the gathering as a peaceful demonstration by thousands of supporters advocating for a better Kaduna.
