Katsina Police Arrest 14 After APC Convoy Attack

On Thursday, the Katsina State Police Command announced the arrest of 14 suspects linked to an attack on a convoy of All Progressives Congress supporters along the Yashi–Funtua road in Malumfashi Local Government Area. The attack occurred on Wednesday as the convoy was en route to a campaign flag-off in Funtua.
Suspected political thugs armed with knives and stones targeted the convoy and passing commercial vehicles, causing damage and injuring a female motorist. The police, led by DSP Abubakar Sadiq, stated that they had made security arrangements ahead of the campaign but were met with an unlawful assembly of thugs.
The arrested individuals include Sagir Musa Maikudi, Abubakar Aliyu, Fahat Aminu, and others aged between 17 and 35. Commissioner of Police Ali Umar Fage condemned the violence and emphasized that the command would not tolerate political thuggery or actions threatening public peace during the election period.
Investigations are ongoing to apprehend additional suspects who fled the scene.
