Police Arrest 17 Cultists, Seize Cannabis in Anambra

On May 24, 2026, the Anambra State Police Command conducted raids across various hideouts in Anambra, resulting in the arrest of 17 male suspects allegedly linked to cult-related activities. The operation was carried out by the Violent Crime Response Unit following credible information.

Items recovered during the raids included cannabis sativa, petroleum jelly, and condoms, which are considered relevant to ongoing investigations. The suspects were identified as Okek Ugochukwu (28), Okoro Christian (17), Goodluck Michael (25), Amuch Michael (24), Ojukwu Divin (26), Ikechukwu Chimeremez (20), Obinna Ik (30), Nnamdi Desmond (28), Odibendi (20), Emmanuel Onyema (26), Omalico Eric (23), Duru Ifeanyi (23), Diamond Zikora (26), Charl Chukwuma (28), Ikem Vincent (20), Okek Chibuzo (23), and Izuuna Okoy (24).

The police reiterated their commitment to tackling cultism and drug abuse, which they view as detrimental to public peace and societal values. A full-scale investigation is underway to ascertain the extent of the suspects' involvement in criminal activities.
