Ogun Police Arrest Two for Unlawful Firearm Possession

On Monday, the Ogun State Police Command arrested two suspects, identified as Joseph Kehind and John Joseph, for unlawful possession of a firearm. The arrest occurred along Shagamu Ogijo Road during a stop-and-search operation led by the police.

Officers recovered a locally made pistol along with live cartridges from the suspects, who could not satisfactorily explain their ownership of the firearm. The suspects claimed that the firearm belonged to the father of one of them.

Following this disclosure, police efforts intensified, leading to the arrest of the father and the recovery of the firearm. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough investigation, which is ongoing.

The suspects are expected to be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation. The Commissioner of Police for Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the professional operation and reiterated the command's zero-tolerance stance on illegal possession of firearms and criminal activities, assuring residents of ongoing efforts to ensure safety and security across the state.
