Father and Son Arrested for Illegal Firearm in Ogun

On April 5, 2026, at approximately 11:00 hours, Ogun State Police Command apprehended 38-year-old Kehind Joseph and his 13-year-old son, John Joseph, for allegedly possessing an illegal locally made pistol and live cartridges. The arrest took place during a stop-and-search operation conducted by the command's Quick Response Squad along Sagamu-Ogijo Road, specifically in the Lafarg area.

The police intercepted a tricycle carrying the teenage suspect, leading to a search that uncovered the firearm. The suspects were unable to satisfactorily explain the ownership of the weapon, although the teenager claimed it belonged to his father.

Following this disclosure, police intensified their efforts, resulting in the father's arrest. The items recovered were transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, and the suspects are expected to face charges in court upon completion of the investigation.

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, commended the professionalism of the officers involved and reiterated the command's zero-tolerance stance on illegal firearms and criminal activities.
