Anambra Police Arrest Woman for Alleged Self-Kidnapping

Nwachukwu Chidubem Blessing, a 22-year-old woman, was arrested by the Anambra State Police Command on charges of fraud, conspiracy, and self-kidnapping. The arrest occurred following an investigation into her reported abduction along the Onitsha–Asaba Expressway on 29th August 2026.

Despite her family paying a ransom of N3 million, she was not released, prompting further police investigation. Superintendent of Police Tochukwu Ikenga stated that police operatives from the Rapid Response Squad traced Blessing to a location in Asaba, Delta State, on 18th September 2026.

Preliminary investigations indicated that she conspired with a female associate named Onyinye and an unidentified male accomplice to stage her kidnapping. The state Commissioner of Police, Nnanna Oji Ama, has directed that the investigation be intensified to uncover the full circumstances of the incident and ensure all involved are brought to justice.
