Anambra Police Arrest Woman Over Child Sexual Abuse, Rescue Four Children

A 36-year-old woman in Onitsha has been arrested by Anambra State Police following allegations of child sexual abuse and exploitation involving minors.
The Anambra State Police Command arrested Anulika Onyeanusia, 36, in Onitsha following reports of child sexual abuse. The arrest came after a video circulated online allegedly showing the suspect engaged in sexual acts with a minor using objects.
Police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga confirmed the arrest on Friday, September 11. During the operation, police officers rescued four children aged 2, 3, 6, and 9 years old from the location.
Items recovered from the scene included objects used in the alleged abuse. According to reports, the suspect told investigators she received payments—one source cited $300 as the highest sum—for uploading videos of the alleged abuse on an online platform.
Anambra First Lady Dr Nonye Soludo issued a statement condemning the alleged abuse and exploitation. She called for a thorough investigation into the matter and expressed concern for the welfare of the rescued children and their need for support.
The incident has triggered broader calls for action beyond the immediate case. Lere Olayinka, an aide to the Federal Capital Territory Minister, has demanded that the Nigerian government ban or impose stricter regulations on TikTok, identifying the social media platform as a channel through which the alleged abuse material was distributed.
The suspect's husband is also reportedly part of the ongoing investigation, according to police statements.
