Katsina Police Arrest 225 Suspects, Rescue 17 Victims

The Katsina State Police Command reported the arrest of 225 suspects involved in various criminal activities, including kidnapping, banditry, cattle rustling, and drug trafficking, as disclosed by DSP Abubakar Sadiq on Thursday. The operations, which occurred in May 2026, were part of a proactive approach led by the command's leadership under Ali Umar Fage, focusing on intelligence-led operations and joint patrols in collaboration with other security agencies.

Among the arrests were seven suspects linked to kidnapping, ten for armed robbery, and 36 for rape and sodomy. Additionally, 17 kidnap victims were rescued during this period, with efforts made to reunite them with their families after medical examinations.

The police recovered various exhibits, including laptops, mobile phones, and vehicles, as well as drugs such as diazepam and Indian hemp. The command emphasized ongoing efforts to combat criminal elements and acknowledged support from the Katsina State government and Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu.
