Lagos Police Arrest 47 Suspects, Recover Firearms and Vehicles

The Lagos State Police Command reported significant success in its ongoing crime crackdown, announcing the arrest of 47 suspects and the recovery of various firearms, vehicles, and other incriminating items. Commissioner of Police Tijani Olayiwola Fatai disclosed these achievements during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Ikeja.

The operations were intelligence-driven and involved collaboration with residents to ensure a peaceful environment during the Easter celebrations. Recent operations included the recovery of 14 firearms, such as locally made pistols and a pump-action gun, along with a dozen live ammunition, 14 vehicles, laptops, and mobile phones.

Notable arrests included suspects linked to armed robbery in the Amukoko area and a 23-year-old alleged cultist in Ajegunle. Additionally, the police foiled an alleged N20 million extortion attempt in Ojokoro, leading to the arrest of an 18-year-old suspect.

The command also dismantled a car theft syndicate, arresting five suspects and recovering two stolen vehicles. Ongoing investigations aim to track down additional members of these criminal networks.
