Police Arrest Suspect in Anambra Nursing Student Murder

The Anambra State Police Command arrested 26-year-old Kosisochukwu Ibekwe on September 4, 2026, in connection with the murder of 23-year-old nursing student Vivian Chilaka. The incident occurred on June 14, 2026, in Alor, Idemili South Local Government Area, and garnered significant public attention.

According to SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the police spokesman, Ibekwe allegedly accessed the victim's residence by climbing the fence with a ladder, intending to sexually assault her. During the encounter, a struggle ensued, leading Ibekwe to stab Chilaka with a knife, resulting in her death.

The investigation revealed that the landlord, initially suspected, has been exonerated. Ibekwe is currently in police custody as investigations continue, particularly regarding his potential involvement in other similar crimes in the community.
