Family Demands Investigation into Nursing Student's Death

The family of Chiamaka Chilaka, a student at the College of Nursing Sciences in Alor, Anambra State, has appealed to the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, for a fresh investigation into her death, which occurred on June 14, 2026. They allege that her death may involve foul play, occurring in a compound where she resided.

At a press conference in Port Harcourt, the family’s legal representative, Euphemia Eleonu, criticized the Anambra State Police Command for its investigation, particularly the release of prime suspect Ogochukwu Ugoeze while the investigation remains incomplete. Eleonu accused investigating officer Supol Nwaije Francis and his superior CSP Ayorinde David of bias.

The family has not been updated on the investigation's progress since Chilaka's death. They demand that the two officers recuse themselves, a new investigation team be formed, and that all evidence related to the case be preserved.

Eleonu emphasized that criminal responsibility should be determined by a competent court based on admissible evidence.
