Delta Police Arrest 272 Suspects, Seize Illicit Drugs

The Delta State Police Command, through its spokesperson Bright Edaf, reported the arrest of 272 suspects during a coordinated raid targeting identified criminal hideouts in the Warri and Ughelli areas of Delta State. The operation, which took place across Warri South, Uvwie, and Okpe Local Government Areas, resulted in the apprehension of 59 suspects, comprising 51 males and 8 females.

The police recovered a significant quantity of illicit substances, including codeine, crack cocaine, loud (a type of cannabis), and Indian hemp. The raids also led to the apprehension of 213 additional suspects in Ughelli town, bringing the total number of arrests to 272.

Notably, a notorious bush bar and hotel were raided, which was found to be operating as a brothel and harboring criminal elements. The police assured that those found culpable would be prosecuted according to the law, with some suspects identified as cultists on the command's watch list.
