Akwa Ibom Police Arrest Carjacking Suspect in Uyo

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has successfully apprehended a carjacking suspect, Sunday Okon, in Uyo. The suspect, a male from Nna Enin village in Urnan local government area, was arrested following a distress call received during a routine night patrol near the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium on January 20, 2026, at 11:30 p.m.

The police swiftly mobilized to the scene where they discovered that the suspect had fled the stolen Toyota Corolla. Through prompt intelligence gathering, the stolen vehicle was traced to Nkwot Ikono village in Etim Ekpo local government area, leading to Okon's arrest.

The suspect confessed to the crime during preliminary interrogation. The police command has commended the officers for their prompt response and professionalism, urging the public to report criminal activities in the area.
