Police Arrest Man for Illegal Firearm Possession in Akwa Ibom

The Police Command in Akwa Ibom detained a 38-year-old man for allegedly possessing an illegal firearm and threatening lives. The suspect, who was also found in possession of illicit substances, was apprehended following a report from residents of Ikot Akpa Ntuen village in Ukanafun Local Government Area.

DSP Timfon John, the Police Command's Public Relations Officer, disclosed that the suspect is currently in police custody as investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the firearm and the extent of the suspect's activities. The police reiterated their zero-tolerance for crimes involving firearms and assured residents of their unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives and properties across the state.

The suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
