Police Arrest Three Cultists, Recover Firearms in Osun

On May 22, 2026, the Osun State Police Command announced the arrest of three suspected cultists during a routine patrol in the Ikirun area. The suspects, identified as Adekola Olayinka (27), Omolara Ezekiel (28), and Babatund Azeez (32), were apprehended after police intercepted an unregistered motorcycle.

A search revealed two English Beretta pistols, a cut-size gun, live ammunition, and various weapons including cutlasses and axes. Following the initial arrest, further investigations led to the discovery that Adekola Olayinka was a member of the Eiye Confraternity and intended to deliver arms to another member, Omolara Ezekiel.

The police have issued a stern warning against political thuggery and criminal activities, pledging to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to root out criminal elements in the state.
