Police Arrest Four Suspects for Vandalism in Cross River

The Cross River State Police Command arrested four additional suspects on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in connection with the vandalism and theft of facilities belonging to Akamkpa Quarry Limited, also known as Sterling Global. The arrests occurred in Obung Community, Akamkpa Local Government Area, following a distress call from the Village Head, HRH Ntufam Elijah Clement Effiong, who reported that youths were pursuing suspected vandals.

The arrested individuals are Michael Ochuche (20), Elvis Enor Friday (20), Theophilus Francis (26), and Charles Vincent Etta (23). Two long iron poles and six iron reinforcement baskets were recovered during the operation conducted by the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).

The Commissioner of Police, Ajo-Geoffrey Ordue, praised the operatives for their swift action and emphasized the command's commitment to intelligence-led policing and community collaboration to protect critical infrastructure. The suspects remain in custody as investigations continue to uncover further connections to the vandalism syndicate.
