Enugu Police Arrest Four Suspected Drug Peddlers, Recover N1.8m in Cash and Drugs

The Enugu State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on drug trafficking-related crimes, leading to the arrest of four suspected drug peddlers. In separate intelligence-driven operations within and around Enugu metropolis, the police Special Weapons and Tactics Team and Anti-Cultism Squad recovered a large quantity of substances suspected to be cannabis (Indian hemp), hard drugs, and a cash sum of N1.8 million.

One of the suspects, Omeru Nkechi, a 46-year-old female, was apprehended behind New Market in Enugu with a significant amount of illicit substances and cash. Additionally, three male suspects, Anielozi Emmanuel, Ekoh Miracl, and Nwachukwu Michael, were arrested in Obeagu Asata Holy Ghost Railway Area.

The Enugu State Police Command, through its spokesperson SP Daniel Ndukwe, emphasized that the operations are part of sustained efforts to dismantle drug distribution networks and curb associated crimes in the state. Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the drug peddling network.
