Police Arrest Four Suspects, Recover Stolen Vehicles, Goods In Akwa Ibom
The Akwa Ibom State Police Command recently arrested four suspects and recovered stolen vehicles and goods in a coordinated operation in Uyo, the state capital. The arrests, which took place on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, were part of efforts to clamp down on vehicle theft-related crimes.
The first operation led to the apprehension of a suspect, Uzoma Uche, who was caught dismantling a stolen Peugeot 404 van at a scrap dump in Mechanic Village, Abak Road. In another raid at a scrap yard, two suspects, Alhassan Haliru and Aminu Zailai, were arrested for attempting to sell a set of new spanners believed to be stolen.
Additionally, the police recovered a stolen Toyota Camry linked to a car theft syndicate. The Command is continuing its efforts to recover remaining stolen vehicles and bring offenders to justice.
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Timfon John warned criminals in the state to desist or face prosecution.
