Police Smash Armed Robbery Gang, Rescue 20 Ghanaians In Akwa Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command recently made significant strides in combating crime by apprehending an armed robbery gang in Uyo and rescuing 20 trafficked Ghanaians. The operation, which occurred on August 20, led to the arrest of a notorious robbery syndicate and the discovery of a suspected international human trafficking network.

The gang had been involved in multiple robberies in the city, including a recent incident where a woman was robbed at gunpoint. Following the arrest of one suspect, two accomplices were also apprehended, leading to the recovery of stolen items and the dismantling of their operation.

Additionally, on August 18, police operatives rescued 20 Ghanaian nationals from a compound in Uyo, prompting ongoing investigations into a possible trafficking syndicate. The Police Command emphasized its commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly.
