Man Arrested in Abuja for Using Forged Presidency Plate

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command arrested a man on October 20 for impersonating a permanent secretary attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. The arrest occurred around 8 pm in Maitama, Abuja, when police intercepted a Lexus SUV with a concealed number plate inscribed with "PRESIDENCY" and bearing the registration number 10B218 FG.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the documents presented for the vehicle's registration were forged. The suspect claimed to be the legitimate holder of the number plate, but further investigations indicated he was impersonating a government official.
The police stated that both the vehicle and its occupant were arrested for investigation and subsequent prosecution. Ongoing investigations will determine the next steps, and the suspect will be charged to court upon their conclusion.
Josephine Adeh, the command’s Public Relations Officer, urged residents to cooperate with police operations and report any suspicious activities.
